Our Philosophy

Wisdom begins with wonder - by Socrates

To cherish the joy of families and the many different ways they come to us.

With Te Whaariki and Kei Tua o te Pae as guidelines, we recognise that each and every child is competent and capable, and we will adapt our pedagogy to support all learning. Theorists of human behaviour, Piaget, Vygotsky and Bronfennrenner, underpin our assessment and evaluation of children's learning.

TJ delivers sand to top up our sandpit......

There are no shortage of helpers as Eddie, Liam, Alex and friends load up the wheel barrows and transfer the sand from the trailer to the sandpit. The ramp at times proved a challenge, but kiwi ingenuity came to the fore and they managed to find their own solutions. Thank you for all your hard work! Our sandpit looks impressive now.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) - News Time

The thoughtful and meaningful use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in early childhood education services can support children "to grow up as competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body, and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society".

Ann received an email from Alex's mum with photos of his trip to Sheep World and we printed them off for him to share his story at News Time. Alex helped Mandy to laminate them.

Later, during News Time, Mandy recorded Alex's news while Ann asked questions. Alex and friends were exposed to so many different areas of technology throughout this experience. Here is Alex's news time:
