Our Philosophy

Wisdom begins with wonder - by Socrates

To cherish the joy of families and the many different ways they come to us.

With Te Whaariki and Kei Tua o te Pae as guidelines, we recognise that each and every child is competent and capable, and we will adapt our pedagogy to support all learning. Theorists of human behaviour, Piaget, Vygotsky and Bronfennrenner, underpin our assessment and evaluation of children's learning.

Manurewa Botanical Gardens

On Wednesday, 12th May, 2010 we visited Manurewa Botanical Gardens.

What a great day we had except for the heavy rain shower we had as we walked around. We had a great time interacting with the Science Alive activities inside, and then on our Adventure around the gardens.

A Funny Story

Today, while quietly minding my own business, watching the day pass by, a certain Mr N asked a very deep and profound question... "Mandy, do you work?" Followed by "My mum does." How is one to reply to such a question?

Walking through Lynn Mall with a shopping trolley full of groceries, one of the children spotted me, delighted to see me outside of the centre, and again, another very good, thoughtful question was asked... "Do teachers need groceries too?"
